2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio vs BMW X3

There are a lot of SUVs on the market today, and even after you narrow it down to the luxury models, there are still a number to sort through to find the one that best suits your lifestyle. We know this whole process can become overwhelming and even stressful. That is exactly the opposite of how we, here at Alfa Romeo of Larchmont, want the new vehicle buying process to feel. Which is why we had our team create this comparison review. Pitting two of the most popular models, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and the BMW X3, against each other to help you determine which one is the best choice without having to do all the work!

2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Power & Handling

There are two engines powering the Stelvio for the 2021 model year. The base engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that creates up to 280 horsepower and 306 pound-feet of torque. With this engine, rear wheel drive is standard but all-wheel drive is available. The second engine, powering the Quadrifoglio model, is a 2.9-liter turbocharged V6 that pumps out up to 505 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive comes standard with this engine. Alfa Romeo pairs both engines with an 8-speed automatic transmission for smooth shifting between gears for optimal performance.

2021 BMW X3 Power & Handling

The BMW X3 trim level lineup is powered by one of two engines. The standard engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that delivers 248 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The second engine is a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder that delivers 382 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and while rear-wheel drive is standard, all-wheel drive is available.

2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Features & Design

Drivers have four Alfa Romeo Stelvio models to choose from in the 2021 model year. The base trim comes outfitted with features like Apple and Android smartphone integration, xenon headlights, front parking sensors, an 8.8-inch touchscreen display, keyless entry and ignition, forward collision mitigation, 18-inch wheels, automatic dual-zone climate control, LED tail lights, a power liftgate, and leather upholstery. The Ti and Ti Sport models add features like a dual-pane sunroof, aluminum interior trim, an integrated navigation system, a sport-tuned suspension, a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, a limited-slip rear differential, and a sport steering wheel. The Quadrifoglio takes things to another level with features like Brembo brakes, a torque-vectoring rear differential, dual-mode exhaust, a carbon-fiber interior trim, an adaptive suspension, and leather sport front seats.

2021 BMW X3 Features & Design

The X3 is offered in three main trim levels for the 2021 model year. The base sDrive30i and the mid-level xDrive30i models are outfitted with the same list of features. They include a power liftgate, power-folding heated mirrors, front and rear parking sensors, autod-imming mirrors, a 12-speaker sound system, tri-zone automatic climate control, a Wi-Fi hotspot, simulated leather upholstery, navigation, remote monitoring and control with BMW's smartphone app, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, and wireless Apple smartphone integration. The upper M40i trim adds Android smartphone integration, an integrated navigation system, adaptive headlights, a digital gauge cluster display, higher-performance tires, a panoramic sunroof, and keyless entry.

Between the 2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio and the 2021 BMW X3, the winner is clear! The X3 puts up a good fight but the engine power just can't compete and with one less trim level, your options are reduced to truly find the model that best suits your needs.
