2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia vs 2017 Audi A4 near Bronx, NY

If you're looking for a small luxury sedan, there are two fresh models for the 2017 year that we completely recommend: the Alfa Romeo Giulia and the Audi A4. The 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia is an athletic luxury car with roots based in Italy and is brand-new this year. It's recognizable for sleek styling, responsive handling, and remarkable engine options. The 2017 Audi A4 has been completely redesigned this year and offers more features, power, and fuel economy than ever. Check out how these awesome luxury sedans compare!

2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Power & Handling

The 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia is built around performance. There are two unique engine options for 2017, both of which feature Italian-style exhaust notes. Both engines are also paired with an eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. The first engine option is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with a hefty 280 horsepower and 306 pound-feet of torque. Alternatively, the Quadrifoglio trim level is equipped with a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that generates a heart-stopping 505 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. The Giulia will prove to be the go-to choice for sports enthusiasts for its zippy powertrains, small footprint, responsive steering, 50:50 weight distribution, and comfortable sport seats. The Giulia also features available steering-column-mounted shift paddles for a more athletic, driver-controlled experience. Rear-wheel drive is standard; all-wheel drive is available.

2017 Audi A4 Power & Handling

The 2017 Audi A4 offers two engine options as well. The first, found in A4 Ultra variations, is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that provides the front-wheel-drive A4 with 190 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. This engine offers fuel-saving technology and a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. Alternatively, other A4 models are equipped with a similar 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that offers up to 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. This engine can be had with front- or all-wheel drive and a manual or automatic transmission. The Audi A4 is fun to drive, with sharp and precise steering and handling, but it doesn't quite shape up to the Giulia with either engine.

2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Features & Design

The 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia is available in three different trim levels: Giulia, Ti, and Quadrifoglio. The base Giulia is loaded with features. Rain-sensing wipers, heated and power-folding mirrors, LED ambient lighting, LED daytime running lights, bi-xenon projector headlights, LED taillights, a rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, and rear park assist sensors are standard equipment for the Giulia. For convenience, cruise control, remote keyless entry, push-button ignition, dual-zone climate control, and leather seats with six-way power adjustments and four-way lumbar adjustment for the driver and front passenger are all standard as well. There's also a standard 7-inch TFT info screen, a 6.5-inch radio screen, voice recognition and commands, Bluetooth, three USB ports, AM/FM/HD radio, and an audio system with eight speakers. To limit noise, there's an acoustic laminated windshield as well as front door windows. There's also a DNA drive mode controller that allows the driver to switch modes to manipulate the steering, accelerator, and transmission. Available features for this model include 3D GPS navigation, an 8.8-inch widescreen radio, a premium audio system with 10 speakers, a 400-watt amplifier, and a subwoofer, heated seats, an infrared reflective windshield, automatic high beams, high-tech safety features such as adaptive cruise control with full-stop capability, and more. Features available later in the lineup include adaptive headlights, a Harman Kardon premium audio system with 14 speakers, two surround speakers, a 12-channel amplifier, and a subwoofer, ultra-high-performance Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, and more.

2017 Audi A4 Features & Design

The 2017 Audi A4 offers three trim levels as well: Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige. The Premium and Premium Plus trim levels have an Ultra subtrim available which gives them the less-powerful, more-efficient engine. Standard features of the Premium trim level include power front seats, leather upholstery, a rearview camera, smartphone integration, a 10-speaker audio system, three USB ports, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, adjustable drive settings via Audi's Drive Select, automatic xenon headlights, a sunroof, a 7-inch center display, three-zone climate control, and a forward collision mitigation system. Available features for the base Premium trim level include auto-dimming and power-folding side mirrors, driver-seat memory settings, keyless entry and ignition, heated front seats, and satellite radio. Later in the lineup, some available features are a Bang & Olufsen surround-sound audio system, an 8.3-inch display, voice controls, navigation, ambient lighting, and HD radio.

The redesigned 2017 Audi A4 is a great option for a new small luxury sedan, but we really think that when it comes to value and power the all-new 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia is the better selection. With ample standard features and a base engine with 32 more horsepower than the strongest A4 engine, the Giulia will feel far better equipped and be substantially more fun to drive. To take a peek at the all-new 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia, come to our dealership today-we can't wait to show you!
