Tips to Stay
Organized at the BeachÂ
Â
Because trips to the beach were a staple in my family as I
was growing up, my husband and I have started the same summer tradition with
our children. What I didn't realize then, but what is painfully clear now, is
the overwhelming preparation and organization required to make our trips run
smoothly. These tips will help anyone stay organized at the beach:Â
- Put your valuables in a sealable, plastic bag. This way, your phone isn't ruined by water, money isn't hidden at the bottom of the bag, and you can find your keys in a snap. ·       A mesh laundry bag is a great way to keep everyone's beach stuff organized and dry. Throw in the sand toys, goggles, and water shoes; the sand falls out, the water drains out, and it's light-weight and easy to carry.Â
- Let your water bottles work double-time by freezing them the night before and using them as ice packs in the cooler. They'll keep food cool, and when they thaw, your family can drink the cold water.Â
- Bring a few plastic bags to store wet bathing suits until you can hang them to dry. This way, not everything in your bag is soaked.Â
- A small tackle box is perfect for the fishermen in your life, but a (clean!) one is also a great snack caddy!Â
- If you've got more stuff than hands, consider using a child's wagon as a beach mule. The wheels move over sand easily, and having all the stuff in one place frees up at least one of your hands!
- Pool noodles are fun for floating, but they also make great pillows! If you've got little ones who still require an afternoon nap, dig a shallow trench for the noodle, lay a blanket over top, and enjoy some shut eye in the summer sun.
