Making its debut in 2017, the all-new Alfa Romeo Giulia has already earned accolades from a variety of outlets. One of the newest titles that the Giulia has received is that of an IIHS Top Safety Pick+. The IIHS, which stands for Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, is one of the most trusted resources for customers researching new vehicles, as they put vehicles through five tests to evaluate crashworthiness.

The 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia is a gorgeous sedan that competes in the premium midsize segment. For 2017, the Giulia was tested in five categories so that the IIHS could evaluate the vehicle's crashworthiness. The Giulia received the highest possible rating of "good" in each one of these tests, which includes roof strength, small overlap front, head restraints, moderate overlap front, and moderate overlap side. When the Giulia is equipped with Forward Collision Warning-Plus with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) technology, it receives a rating of "superior" from the IIHS. Finally, in order to earn the Top Safety Pick+ distinction, the vehicle must perform well in the Headlamp and Automatic Emergency Braking evaluations by the IIHS. The Giulia earned the "superior" rating in both of these evaluations.

Alfa Romeo has meticulously crafted their all-new Giulia to offer the latest in safety and security. The vehicle is equipped with a thorough range of airbags, including driver and front-passenger inflatable knee airbags, multistage driver/front-passenger airbags, front/rear side curtain airbags, and driver/front-passenger seat-mounted side airbags (pelvic-thorax). In order to earn the Top Safety Pick+ distinction, vehicles must be offered with the latest driver aids, and the Giulia has an incredible range of assistance options, ensuring that the ride is as safe as possible. Alfa Romeo offers systems like Rear Cross Path detection and Blind-spot Monitoring, along with front/rear parking sensors.  There are other innovative driver assistance systems available:

  • Full-speed Forward Collision Warning-Plus with Full Stop: This advanced technology provides autonomous braking when the driver does not react in sufficient time. Additionally, in some circumstances, the system can slow down or bring the vehicle to a complete stop when a frontal collision is imminent.
  • Lane Departure Warning: This system utilizes sensors, and alerts the driver of an inadvertent lane departure.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control-Plus with Full Stop: Adaptive Cruise Control works to help the driver in maintaining a safe preset distance from the vehicle ahead. In some traffic conditions, the Full Stop system can bring the vehicle to a full stop without needing intervention from the driver. The system resumes driving when the vehicle in front has continued moving.
